After
changing from chicken bus to chicken bus for quite some hours, I finally arrive
in Pananachel. It looks like the hippy paradises of Thamel in Katmandu
and Kao San in Bangkok.
A lot of touristy clothing shops where reducing prices by bargaining has become
a sport again and where I 'shamelessly' updated my wardrobe. Saturday I hopped
around the lake with three other travelers to Santiago and San Pedro. Although more quiet
and less touristy, also here we are still the number one economic force. The boat
ride was brilliant with towering volcano’s on all sides of the lake. At Sunday
we went to Chichicastenango, the most famous market in the country and here I
bought even more souvenir stuff. Oh, dumm me, now my backpack is full and I
have to carry everything. I spend another evening in Pana before going to Antigua, chicken class of course.
